The RYA reacted to a draconian proposal to limit anchoring in Studland Bay by proposing a proper study of the consequences of anchoring there. Now, some two years later, they have, together with other interested bodies, published a guide to anchoring in Studland Bay .
Although it is well outside the Solent, Studland Bay is a frequent weekend destination for Solent based boats. The guide also provides general guidance on anchoring in such waters which may be applicable in the Solent. Several areas of seagrass have been identified in the Solent as possible Marine Conservation Zones(MCZ). This guide may give some insight into the discussions and debates that could occur when Solent MCZ areas are designated (there are many similarities between the anchorage at Osborne Bay and Studland Bay)
